Our Story

We are part of both the worldwide Anglican Communion and the Anglican Church of Australia.

In our region, we are part of the Anglican Diocese of Newcastle and are led by the Right Reverend Dr Peter Stuart, Bishop of Newcastle.

The worldwide Anglican Communion is very diverse. Our identity as Anglicans has been shaped by the Book of Common Prayer and 39 Articles of Religion. The Archbishop of Canterbury is the senior bishop and symbolic head of this global Communion.

We appreciate the great diversity of our churches. There are Anglicans who identify as being Anglo-Catholic, Evangelical and charismatic Pentecostals. We think all of these expressions are authentic ways of following Jesus within the Anglican Church. We think that it’s important that Anglicans learn from and respect one another’s traditions and styles of worship.
